Extra Credit 48: Tuned In to Tune Out

Grymm Ramblings

An alternate take of this part of the story would have involved Node having a minor breakdown and beating the the holy shit out of what's left of Teknark. An automatic self destruct would have initiated at that point and Teknark would've started freaking out until Node uses their control over the SPC networks to disable the countdown.

A tearful Teknark would start thanking them and talking about his wife and kids needed. How Appleman and the SuperPowers Council never gave him a choice. How grateful he was from them saving him from their draconian bureaucracy. Node would interrupt this heartfelt outpouring by picking hip up by the head, crushing the helmet between their hands and replying, "I'm not saving you. I'm UPCYCLING you. TERMINAL COMMAND: EMERGENCY LOBOTOMY."

On a completely different topic, I've been revisiting the Venture Bros the past couple of weeks and I'm a bit surprised to realize just how much of the shows style entwined itself into the DNA of my art. It's neat to realize most of what I do is an ugly bastard fusion child resulting from years of injecting Invader ZIM and Ventures Bros directly into my veins.

The next comic page is still in the super rough phase but it's slowly coagulating together. I expect roughs to be done by this weekend. In the meantime, I'm going to be adding a new type of extra to the VW Patreon in the form of Codex Pages. Thursdays will now feature a peek in the gang's weird little spellbook. Expect little nuggets of lore, footnotes from Node, journal entries, and magical notes from Zolar Grymmowski.

A slightly less drastic change involves Wednesday's CreepKnight vs. Crow comics transforming into CreepKnight vs. Cow.

The Crow isn't gone permanently, I just realized that we never really utilized Napoleon as much as we could in the mainline comic. Part of that was us realizing we just loved Professor Kaboodles more. So for a little bit I'm going to mess around with this dynamic and see where it goes.

I've also casually thought about the potential of just occasionally changing the comic just to fit the CKvsC pattern. So CreepKnight vs Crow. Versus Cow. Versus Capitalism? Versus Cheese? Versus Cenobite?

We'll see where things go...

My quest to make the archive more use friendly is still an ongoing process. There's not multiple ways to access the archives beyond the main chapter page. There are now links and a drop down menu beneath the comic page that'll let you choose a storyarc or back and forward chapter buttons that'll let you browse by storyarc. The drop down list is only partially done though so pardon the dust for now.
