State of the Walrus

Here's hoping you're still with us after last week. The story behind the outage and the switchover to the new hyphenated URL is complicated, full of bullshit, and in all honesty, I couldn't even communicate it if I wanted to because I'd be talking out of my ass with only a half baked understanding of what I was saying. Marron is our glorious Machine Language Sorceress after all. I'm just the Art Badger.

Point is, we are now in soft reset mode where backstage stuff is concerned. The comic and the comic archive are here, they're up, they're healthy. That's the important bit.

Everything else however... from Project Wonderful ads to a lot of our extra pages, to some our extra internal images, and especially every case where we've previously linked to past parts of the site in news posts, all of that needs to be gone over and fixed.

At the same time, we've no doubt lost some readers due to them suddenly not being able to find us, and maybe not thinking to Google up the OFFICIAL VOODOO WALRUS LIKABLE FACEBOOK PAGE. Which we used during the outage to keep everyone abreast of the situation as much as we could.

Still others might have assumed Voodoo Walrus just flat out ended. I know a handful of readers came out of the woodwork and hit my galleries and the Facebook page, even the Youtube page to ask if the Walrus was over. Completely understandable response.

Well I'm going to sit here and tell you this flat out and it is something we have always kept in mind:

VOODOO WALRUS WILL NEVER FADE QUIETLY IN TO THE NIGHT.

If Voodoo Walrus ever ends, we will tell you that is is coming to an end. As in we will tell you in advance if we can. We will also make it a point to, in the best of our abilities, give the comic a decent place to end on. Not just abandoning things mid-storyarc. In fact, even if the Voodoo Walrus webcomic were to end, we'd most likely continue to run the Voodoo Walrus website, VW archive intact, and then begin using it to share a completely different comic project. Because we are the Voodoo Walrus Productions team. We will always be making something.

If the site goes down in the future? Find us at the Voodoo Walrus Productions Facebook page for updates and news. Heck, like the page right now if you'd like to see the occasional Voodoo Walrus FUN FACT pop up or see various bits of work in progress art bits and various extra things, because more of that kind of thing will be popping up.

On one last note, if one good thing came of the past week, it was seeing people seek out the VW Facebook page and consistently liking it, and befriending the additional Voodoo Walrus Facebook account that was made before the "Likable" page.

We also had one really awesome reader who was all "Screw it, you guys need hosting? I'll host the comic!" It was very uplifting to see so many names we didn't recognize come out of the woodwork, and I hope you all make your way back here and let us continue to share our bizarre little stories with you.

For now, all we ask is that you do us a favor and help up spread the word about the Walrus being back in a slightly new home. One your Facebooks, your Twitters, on forums that you frequent that have anything to do with comics and/or webcomics. Any little thing you can do will be appreciated.

In the meantime, we'll be here in bowels of the castle, drawing, writing, plotting, and doing what we can to fix the minor little errors that are still floating around the site. So if you find anything wrong in your browsing, let us know at voodoowalrus@gmail.com
