Commercial Break: Take Two! That’s a Wrap! Ship It!

Grymm Ramblings

A Dalek lamp. A shrine to Matt Smith as the Doctor. Two versions of a comic featuring a Dalek selling drugs for fighting lung butter. Its safe to say we're pretty cool with the Doctor around here. Honestly I was the last one on board. Marron got into it early. CK started casually checking it out. Mirth started flying through episodes and then I finally begrudgingly thought I should check out the episode introducing the Weeping Angels since the majority of the crew out at Creepy Hollow was talking about it and we even had some costumes crafted as homages to them. And finally Mirth just asked me to sit down and watch the episode the next time I had the opportunity to watch anything. So I did. I wasn't hooked. I didn't have the overwhelming desire to go on a Doctor Who watching binge, but it was enjoyable and fun sci-fi. A few days later I wanted something to watch while eating and letting art dry and I decided to check out the first Eccelston episode. That was two and a half seasons ago and I'm now actively dreading the eventual departure of David Tennant for no clear or explainable reason outside of the fact that he looks funny and way too young to be the Doctor but I'm still willing to give him a chance since I didn't like the changeover to Tennant at first either yet still found him wonderfully entertaining. It really is a glorious sci-fi offering and I don't tend to enjoy sci-fi shows all that much. Though my only issue is with the supporting cast. Rose was a useless, ignorant twat of a chav. Every time she opened her mouth I want to put my boot down her throat and stomp down. Her mother was a pit beast that looked like it motor boated a cosmetics display and then dry hump the employee at the counter while making barnyard noises and Mickey was a useless whiner. I felt terribly betrayed when Eccelston was swapped out for Tennant yet Rose remained in all her mouth breathing glory. Yet, now that I've seen several episodes with her successor Martha... well.... An idiot woman child of a chav who doesn't know her nostrils from an electrical outlet actually seems like the better option. Sure, Martha is a far sight easier on the eyes as she's actually attractive and decently dressed, but I've realized... Rose wasn't useless. Rose actually actively contributed to things. Or at least tried too. And even if she was responsible for making a Dalek commit emo suicide, at least she didn't sped every waking second trying to get into the Doctor's pants. I've said my piece. Come back next week when we return to the shenanigans of the core cast!

  1. Aren’t they already on a new doctor? I mean, Tenant’s my favorite, but I coulda swore they offed him a season or two ago.

    1. Yeah, but I’m no where near up to date. I’m only on the third season currently.

      1. My favorite episode’s Blink. It’s also hailed as the ‘creepiest Doctor Who episode’ by my stepfather.

        1. Blink is pretty bad but “Count the Shadows” makes my skin crawl when I enter a room with multiple directional lighting.

        2. bad as in creepy…I shouldn’t be on the comment section when tired but sleep dep makes me silly

        3. Ah yes….. The shadow creatures in the library….. Truly creepy two episodes with an end that left you more confused and excited then the beginning.

  2. I’m behind by several seasons at this point.
