This explains so much.

This reminds me of Invader Zim and a story I once read in school that involved a fully automated house that went about its daily routines despite the fact that the family living in it had long ago been vaporized by an atomic blast.
Mirth
I think I read that story! Do you recall what it was called?
Ticker
No. I c an’t. Sorry. However, I think I can confirm or deny it if I heard the title. What’s the name of the one that you read?
Mirth
I wish I could recall. I remember the little electronic mice and the outlines of the family on the side of the house.

“There Will Come Soft Rains” by Ray Bradbury?

Akonite
….I think you might have a beholder infestation.
Mirth
Akonite, that is far from a Beholder. Look at the spots! True Beholders do not have the spots.
Akonite
So there are mock-beholders out there? Disguised as a beholder through evolution to discourage predators?
…The fauna is fascinating there.
Will B.
That not a beholder it’s Fluffy.
